shoes sizes and new things

so mom and i took the girls to stride rite to get their feet measured yesterday (after a lovely lunch at legal seafood--lovely until someone commented on how perfect the girls were...then i shot nico in the eye with lemon and lena got too much lettuce [oops] in her mouth). they're both a size three. but the shoes there, while i'm sure they're well-made, are more than $40 a pair. not cute enough to splurge and not neutral enough to wear every day. i'm thinking i might be a soft-soled shoe kinda mama. i love bobux. but i might buy some chucks.

so new baby things in the past week:

• last saturday morning, nico gave me a raspberry on my tummy. at noon, lena did it too. how sweet!
• lena is pointing all over the place
• lena clearly signed milk monday morning when i didn't nurse them right after breakfast
• clapping seems to mean more for both nico and lena
• they continue to love their books, especially ones that have fun things to feel, and they are getting good at turning pages
• they'll each stand for a second or two holding nothing
• nico will say "buh" for bottle and book; lena says "duh" for duck and dog; i think they're getting closer to saying "mama" just for me and "dada" for chris
• nico is grinding her top and bottom teeth--agh!
